  1. You know I am a moderator on numerous sites, but I personally have never encountered a moderator like you! You post an open discussion area, with the one condition of not talking about another site, which I totally agree with. But the topics you are extremely sarcastic about are EVERY DAY ISSUES AROUND THIS AREA, and by your sarcasm opening the discussion you are actually inviting more trolling. That is sad! I have seen you complain about not being paid, most moderators aren’t, they volunteer their time. It almost sounds like you are regretting volunteering your time! If you are, just man up and quit! Stop stirring the pot with your own personal negativity!

  2. Have you been to CHEF STEWART”s in Fruitland? It’s where the old circle bar was at the Y in the road going towards Allen. I stopped there last week for lunch and this week for dinner and have to say this place is awesome. It’s quiet, nice atmosphere, great service by a young lady waitress, and the food is out of this world. I will be frequently visiting and suggest other to find this secrete spot. I will tell you now you won’t be disappointed…. Now I have a new favorite!!!

Undrinkable and unhealthy water being controlled by a convicted felon with no municipal water treatment documentation. Joe the town whop manager needs to resign he does not live here all he is doing is taking the money to bullshit his way around. Bankrupt Barney Bob needs to get the hell out too! What a f#$%&*@ waste of money this bastard is.

  4. The job of city government is to be responsive to the people and solve problems. Potholes that have not been fixed since LAST spring are a legitimate issue to bring up on this forum.

Jake Day is failing as a mayor to perform his basic function as mayor by not taking care of the streets. He is more worried about how to promote Jake Day.

      1. Is that you making excuses, Jake? The mayor should be using his office to get on the county/state to fix the roads that are their responsibility, not making excuses for the lousy job he is doing.

      2. Keep in mind, Idiot Jake 9:04 am that the commenter is referring to the potholes in Sh!tcity. Keep in mind that the state maintains its roads and there are NO complaints about the state roads. Next!

      1. Yes I have. Repeatedly. And they don’t get fixed. And a lot of these are left over from LAST spring. Jake Day should stop engaging in self-promotion in preparation for his run for Congress in 2022 and start doing his job as mayor (haw!)

      1. Why the Hell is Bob Culver giving the Pittsville Volunteer Fire Company thousands of dollars a year in our hard earned tax money when they own a car wash in town? They are business owners and stealing for them taxpayers.

        Like

    1. Wrong! Culver is a Democrat, a RINO. Rick Pollitt was at his best the first term but he let things go the second term. With that said, he was still much better than Big Nose Bob.

      1. Not at a County Executive salary of only $85,000. No one qualified will want to run for that thankless job when all your departments heads make a hell of a lot more money than you. Bob’s own number 2 and 3 men make $50,000 and $15,000 more money than their boss.

Salisbury to implement Green Business Certification

Salisbury—Mayor Jake Day is pleased to announce that the City’s Sustainability Advisory Committee (Green Team) has developed a comprehensive Green Business Certification program to recognize businesses which have made a provable commitment to becoming more sustainable in their operations.

In order to receive the certification, a business must complete a self-evaluation using a provided checklist. The more difficult or important an item on the list is to fulfill, the higher its assigned point value. Upon completion of the checklist, point values are totaled up, and a successful business will have qualified for one of three tiers of certification: Gold (12 points), Silver (10 points), or Bronze (8 points).

Among the many factors considered is whether a business has decided to go “strawless” by either eliminating drinking straws altogether, or by choosing to use more environmentally friendly options such as paper or bamboo, rather than traditional, plastic straws.

Other items on the checklist include:
    · The use of sustainable practices during events, such as limiting single-use items, or using only recyclable products

    · The use of energy-efficient lighting
    · Being “bike friendly,” making it easier for customers to patronize a business without having to drive there in a car
    · The use of compostable materials such as utensils and bags
    · Water efficient fixtures in kitchens and bathrooms

After the checklist has been submitted for consideration, the City’s Sustainability Coordinator will visit the business to verify that all point values have been correctly assessed. Businesses which are awarded the certification will get an official Green Business sticker for display, a certificate of recognition from Mayor Jake Day, and recognition on multiple social media platforms and the City’s website.

More information about this certification can be found here: https://salisbury.md/green-business-certification

  11. Combining about pot holes here ad nauseam does nothing to fix the problem. Cite specific pot and report them to the appropriate authority. Heck, start a pot hole blog of your own. Do something constructive instead of incessant whining to people who have no control of the problem. It had gotten old long ago.

  13. Has anyone noticed the major pothole in S. Mall Drive and the road has been closed for over a month? I’ve reported it numerous times and it hasn’t been “patched” yet!! What have you got to say about that Jake Day, oops, I mean ANONYMOUS April 26, 2019 at 12:08 pm?

    Like

    1. I’m not Jake, or even a city employee. That “pothole” on S. Mall Drive is due to a failed storm water pipe under the road. The pipe belongs to the mall. The city closed the road until the mall can replace the pipe and repair the road.

      1. Just fix the damn problem and send the bill to the owners of the mall. So sick of excuses by this city!!!
